Welcome to Hillcroft Nursery.

Our nursery offers a warm and inspiring place for our newest recruits to Hillcroft with a vibrant, large indoor space and an impressive, well resourced outdoor area.

Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which is aimed at enabling children to explore and investigate the World around them.

There are 7 areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

These consist of 3 prime areas:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Dvelopment
  • Personal, social and emotional development.

There are also 4 specific areas:

  • Literacy,
  • Mathematics,
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design.

None of these areas can be delivered in isolation from the others. All areas are delivered through a balance of adult led activities and child initiated learning. The Nursery room is set up in these areas of learning and the children are encouraged to free flow between the indoor and outdoor areas.

In line with the rest of the school, we use a topic approach in Nursery.

The topics for this year are:

Autumn Term 1 Autumn Term 2 Spring Term 1 Spring Term 2 Summer Term 1 Summer Term 2

Why do leaves go crispy?

Are eggs alive?
