Acorns is a highly successful before and after school childcare facility, which is managed by Hillcroft School.

Our staff are commited to sharing this time with children and ensuring that whilst they are at Acorns they enjoy themselves as much as possible. Staff participate in relevant training and are all trained in first aid and safeguarding children.

  • Kath and Natasha have undergone paediatric first aid training.
  • Kath and Debbie are both trained to the level of Deputy DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
  • Each session is supported by 1-4 play workers (following Ofsted’s required staffing ratio)

Information

Acorns After School Club caters for up to 40 children per day during term time. Children from the age of 3 years to 12 years are welcome. It is a place where children can relax, play and have fun learning.  There are many games and activities for the children to participate in, creating opportunities which will support children at play, promoting development, learning, creativity and independence. We often use our kitchen area for cooking activities, the children are then able to sample their cooking later as part of their snack e.g pizzas, biscuits or cakes. We make use of the playing field and playground, with a wide range of outdoor toys including ball games and using the trim trail.

We are fully committed to working in partnership with parents/carers and their children.

We also work closely with Surrey Early Years and Childcare Service, who offer us support and training.

Acorns is managed by Hillcroft Primary School and therefore undergoes inspections by OFSTED. This ensures that we provide a high standard of care at all times.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast club is open from 7.30am to 8.45am.  We can cater for 16 children from 7.30am and then a further 16 children from 8.00am. The children can choose from a selection of nutritional foods and can enjoy their breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere and when they are finished they are able to choose which activities they would like to do.  Once the bell goes, we escort nursery, reception and lower school children to their classrooms whilst the upper school children make their own way.

There is an initial registration fee of 5.00

After School Club

Our after school club runs from 3.00pm to 6.00pm.  Nursery, reception and lower school children are collected from their classrooms and escorted up to the clubroom whilst the upper school children make their own way.  Refreshments are provided on arrival, consisting of a drink and fruit or frozen frube. A further snack is provided at 4.15pm, this varies each day but an example is a sandwich accompanied by fruit or vegetable sticks. This is a snack, and not intended to be a substitute for an evening meal. Drinking water is available at all times. Children are welcome to bring a packed lunch if they prefer.

Registration

All children must be registered before attending.  A one off fee of £5 will be charged.  Once registered your children are able to attend breakfast club, after school, or both, subject to availability.

Holiday clubs and inset days

We are now open on most INSET days and for the first two weeks of the summer holiday when we can cater for up to 24 children. If the children are staying all day, they will need to bring a packed lunch.
