Acorns is a highly successful before and after school childcare facility, which is managed by Hillcroft School.

Our staff are commited to sharing this time with children and ensuring that whilst they are at Acorns they enjoy themselves as much as possible. Staff participate in relevant training and are all trained in first aid and safeguarding children.
- Each session is supported by the manager or deupty manger, and up to 9 additional staff (following Ofsted’s required staffing ratio)
- Each session in the EYFS provision is supported by a room lead and EYFS qualified member of staff
Information
Acorns After School Club caters for up to 86 children per day during term time. Children from the age of 3 years to 11 years are welcome. It is a place where children can relax, play and have fun learning. There are many games and activities for the children to participate in, creating opportunities which will support children at play, promoting development, learning, creativity and independence. We often use our kitchen area for cooking activities, the children are then able to sample their cooking later as part of their snack e.g pizzas, biscuits or cakes. We make use of the playing field and playground, with a wide range of outdoor toys including ball games, bikes and using the trim trail.
We are fully committed to working in partnership with parents/carers and their children.
Acorns is managed by Hillcroft Primary School and therefore undergoes inspections by OFSTED. This ensures that we provide a high standard of care at all times.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast club is open from 7.30am to 8.35am. We can cater for 70 children from 7.30am onwards. The children can choose from a selection of nutritional foods and can enjoy their breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere and when they are finished they are able to choose which activities they would like to do. Once the bell goes, we escort all children to their classrooms ready for their school day.

After School Club
Our after school club runs from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. All children are collected from their classrooms or a designated meeting area and are then escorted to the club room. Refreshments are provided on arrival. A further snack is provided at 3.45pm (EYFS), 4.00pm (KS1) and 4.15-4.30pm (KS2). The children's snack varies each day, but food we provide includes a selection of different fruits and vegetables, yoghurts, sandwiches/baguettes and corn cakes/crackers. Drinking water is available throughout the afternoon. This is a snack, and not intended to be a substitute for an evening meal. Children are welcome to bring a snack box if they prefer. Parents/Carers can indicate their preference on the registration form.

Registration
Parents/carers need to complete a registration form and Contract of Agreement for each child before the children can start at Acorns. These can be obtained upon request from the manager by calling, texting or emailing. A one off registration fee of £5 will be charged. Once registered your children are able to attend breakfast club, after school, or both, subject to availability.
Holiday clubs and inset days
We are open on most INSET days as well as the first week of the Easter holiday and for the first two weeks of the summer holiday. The dates for this academic year are listed in the Acorns Admission Policy which can be viewed below.
If children are staying all day, they will need to bring a packed lunch. Breakfast and light snacks are provided by Acorns.
