PSHE

At Hillcroft, our purpose is to develop the children’s knowledge and skills through personal, social and health education to enable all children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. Our purpose is to develop children personally and socially by providing them with opportunities to learn about their rights and responsibilities and incorporate moral, social and cultural issues that are a part of growing up. Our children will be encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

Jigsaw is the scheme used across the school for the teaching of PHSE at Hillcoft. It is a unique, spiral, progressive scheme which aims to prepare children for life,  helping them to know and truly value who they are and help them to understand how they relate to each other. Each half term, the children across the school focus on a different part of the PHSE curriculum;

Autumn 1 Being me in my world
Autumn2 Celebrating difference
Spring 1 Dreams and goals
Spring 2 Healthy me
Summer 1 Relationships
Summer 2 Changing me

Miss Alex Dennis is the PHSE Subject leader at Hillcroft and is therefore responsible, along with the Leadership team, for the progression and coverage of the PHSE curriculum.
